In the book “TS,” Halil focuses on transgender sex workers in Istanbul and Ankara. These intimate photographs offer a complex narrative of how femininity is constructed to please men. As always, Halil’s black-and-white photographs reflect the vulnerability of his subjects, captured in spontaneous moments or posed self-consciously. In this series, Halil provocatively connects photography and sex work, where the subject’s value is determined by the gaze of the viewer. A short text by Göran Odbratt accompanies the book.
