Nothing to be Surprised About is the result of a long-term project born after the 2008 financial crisis. This photo book presents a series of photographs alongside text and various documents (media and archives), written through an accumulation of fragments of history, the city, and the author. The book's fold-out design allows the reader to discover hidden documents between the pages. Nothing to be Surprised About is a summary of urban life in Istanbul from the 2008 financial crisis to the Gezi Park protests in June 2013. The visuals show the crises of individuals alongside urban crises and ecological events. This book can be considered a continuation of Accident and Destiny, published by Filigranes Editions in 2009.
