Yukio Mishima, Eikoh Hosoe ve Güllerin çilesi (Turkish)
In the years 1961-62, the Japanese author Yukio Mishima whose work (The Temple of the Golden Pavilion, Confessions of a Mask) intertwined the written word and pictoriality in a world sharply defined by beauty, violence and death, invited young photographer Eikoh Hosoe to collaborate on a series of photographs that culminated in the book Ba-Ra-Kei. Çağla Özbek’s long-form essay Yukio Mishima, Eikoh Hosoe and Ordeal by Roses is a meditation on the implications of writing versus appearing, and an analysis of Mishima’s visual will and testament delineating the majestically tragic role this controversial literary figure of the 20th century resoundingly cast for himself.
