Thalweg
Thalweg
Based on Ceminay Kara and Oğuzhan İzmir's trips and landscape analysis around the Evros River, Thalweg narrates what they learned during their journeys into the region allowing for as much intimate expression and serendipity. The book reveals how the Evros, which we know as a line on the Turkey-Greece border, is actually a multidimensional network, and it presents Evros, who doesn’t care much about the border task assigned to him, as the main character at the center of conflicts both between humans and between human and non-human. The anachronism created by a reminiscent form of travel writing combined with a current content allows us to reconsider Evros with an approach that has developed around a sense of discovery and curiosity.
Thalweg: Well-known Secrets of the Evros River received the 2021 Border_less Book Fund, and the hardcover version was produced with the support of Barın Writing & Binding Workshop.
